On Saturday, the Boulder Running Company store celebrated its 10th anniversary and a space expansion.
“Our flagship store opened in Boulder in 1995," Cody Hill said. "Later they opened the store in our Littleton location -- that’s where I started working. We decided to come down here and open this store up.”

The store added about 1,500 square feet as of Sept. 1, giving it much-needed space. Hill believes the expansion will draw in more customers who would have otherwise been intimidated by a crowded store.
“You know, we were really squished in there before,” Hill said. “Now, even if we’re busy over here, people can walk in and look around.”
From the beginning, the Boulder Running Company has played a major part in the Colorado Springs running community.
“We’ve been heavily involved in the community since we’ve opened, with helping sponsor some of the high school cross country meets and sponsoring Jack Quinn’s club," Hill said. "We have a women’s fit team that does marathon training out of here, and that’s typically two session per year, with 60-70 ladies in that.”
The store also helps sponsor many local races and puts on some of its own.
The Boulder Running Company has its own system of analyzing customers’ “gait” in order to determine which shoe is an ideal fit.
“We work closely with a lot of the podiatrists, and have quite a bit of contact with the physical therapists in town,” Hill said.
"I went to a different running shop and they kinda looked at stuff, but it was really fast and more like it was about the sale than diagnosing what I really needed, so the shoes didn’t work out that well," Jill Yuen said. "So I came here to try them and it’s been great. Every time they diagnose me, every time they suggest a shoe that’s always a good fit for me."
