Straight from the opening weekend of World Cup competition in Soelden, Austria, members of the U.S. Ski Team will head to Colorado to train.

Local fans will get a chance to meet their Olympic heroes Saturday, Nov. 6, at a special celebration in Vail, home of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The 2011 U.S. Alpine Ski Team also will be announced at the event.

Vancouver medalists Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Andrew Weibrecht  and 2006 Olympic champion Ted Ligety are expected to attend the free celebration, which will be followed by an autograph session with the team.

"We're excited to kick off the season by hanging out with our fans in Vail," said Vonn, who was welcomed back to her hometown in March by thousands after her gold and bronze medal haul in Vancouver. "It was amazing to come home after the Olympics to so many people excited about ski racing. The entire team will be there this time and we are looking forward to seeing some of our biggest supporters."
