The birth of mountain-biking

Photographer Christian Murdock and I spent a couple days last week at Fat Tire Bike Week in Crested Butte, for the 30th anniversary of the oldest mountain-bike festival around, which began with late-1970s rides on one-speed bikes over Pearl Pass. The story will be the July 8 Out There story.
