Colorado Springs Cruisers is a summer-long social bike ride out of McCabe's Tavern on Tejon Street. Every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., riders of every skill level gather for a good time.
In its second week, the ride is eight blocks through downtown, and it's more about the bikes and the people than it is the ride. Riders pedal everything from high-end stumpjumpers to homebuilt double-decker tall bikes. German-made cruisers share rack space with custom-built bamboo frames. Riders relax after their spin to enjoy food, drinks, and the like-minded company.
Three rides depart on a loose hourly schedule, or as groups form. Riders do as many of the three as they choose, and save time in between and after for entertainment at McCabe's, which starts at 8 p.m. and can be anything from a band to a DJ to a movie screening.
