Mother Nature covered Loveland Ski Area with the first snow of the season Thursday.

Not to be outdone, the Loveland Ski Area snowmaking crew took advantage of the cold temperatures Thursday night and complemented the natural snowfall with a few manmade flakes.

"We have been eager to get things started," said Eric Johnstone, Snowmaking & Trail Maintenance Manager. "When the humidity dropped last night, we were able to fire up the guns and put some snow on the ground."

The snowmaking began at about 4 a.m.
