Course records fall on fast track of ADT Marathon

The 10th edition of the American Discovery Trail Marathon proved to be the fastest yet.

Alex Nichols of Colorado Springs won the 26.2-mile race from near Palmer Lake to America the Beautiful Park in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 32 seconds. Nichols' time was more than 6 minutes faster than runner-up Kelly Mortensen of St. Paul, Minn., and nearly 2 minutes better than the previous course record.

Michele Suszek of Longmont captured the women's title in a course-record time of 2:57:04. She finished sixth overall.

Sharon Howard of Westminster was the second woman in 3:07:50.

Also: Springs residents claim half marathon titles

Nearly 400 runners finished the marathon, a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
