The men's cross country team at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs was all business Friday morning.
Amid the traffic rush in downtown, the 20 runners weren't hard to miss. While their choice of neckwear didn't differ much from the typical employee, they weren't exactly in business attire.
Decked out in running clothes and running shoes, the runners proudly showed off their ties as they ventured around several downtown streets. The "tie run" is an annual activity for UCCS. The team runs each morning at 7 a.m. as so many are heading to work. As part of a competitive college team, the runners jokingly say they "are going to work too" by putting in more than 70 miles a week.
The Lions open their season Saturday, Sept. 11, with the Rust Buster Invitational at Monument Valley Park.
