Did you know this weekend (June 4&5) is Free Fishing Weekend in Colorado? That means you don't need a license to fish this weekend - anywhere in the state. We told you about a fishing derby Saturday at Quail Lake in Colorado Springs where 500 rods and reels will be given away. And the local chapter (Cheyenne Mountain) of Trout Unlimited celebrating its 25th year up at Rainbow Falls north of Woodland Park. And our Fishing Spot Finder. And free fly-fishing classes at Anglers Covey. There's ANOTHER fishing event you should know about: the 10th annual Hooked on Palmer Lake Fishing Derby. It's Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Palmer Lake. Kids ages 4 to 16 - with their parents - can win prizes ( “Ugliest Fish," "Biggest Fish” and “Dirtiest Kid”) and there will be raffle prizes, too. The event is sponsored by the Tri Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Tickets cost $3 and include use of a fishing pole and tackle. You're encouraged to bring your own gear, if you have it. That way there'll be plenty of gear to go around. Recommended bait includes salmon eggs and worms. PHOTO: Great photo, courtesy of Our Community News site. |
