Will Springs be left on the sideline of upcoming tour?
Wednesday, August 04, 2010 21:25

Lance Armstrong showed up in Denver on Wednesday to usher in a new era of cycling.

But next August, will that eight-stage international event include Colorado Springs.

According to Joe Lindsey's Boulder Report in Bicycling, the Springs might not be a stop.

Mike Aisner, the former director of the Coors Classic who has been working with the organizers, reportedly said, "This event is all about the marquee locations: Vail, Aspen, Estes Park.”

Then, according to Lindsey, Aisner perhaps gave away more than he intended about how far along route planning is by adding, “Lance wanted to use Colorado Springs, and we tried that but it’s tough logistically to work it out. There’s lots of Colorado that we didn’t use, but we were interested in mountains.”

Should the new event have a stop in Colorado Springs?
