USA Cycling gives riders chance to test prologue of Pro Cycling Challenge
Monday, June 13, 2011 16:09

More than 100 of the world's top cyclists will descend on Colorado Springs later this summer for the start of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

The Pikes Peak region will play host to the inaugural tour's prologue -- a 5.18-mile individual time trial from Garden of the Gods to downtown. USA Cycling wants to give interested riders a sneak peek at the fast course.

On Aug. 4, the Springs-based organization will roll out a fun ride for the community and provide a cookout afterward. The event is a fundraiser for the Pikes Peak Cycling Society in order to support the prologue.

The course will begin at USA Cycling, travel west to Centennial and then south to the prologue start in Garden of the Gods. The riders will then take on the prologue route before returning to USA Cycling for approximately 18 total miles of riding.

Registration is only $15 until July 21 and $20 from July 22 to Aug. 4. The first 50 riders to sign up will receive USA Pro Cycling Challenge gift bags with event merchandise.
