Feeling snowbound? Longing for outdoor adventure with an affordable place to stay? Craving an outing in the splendor of a Colorado state park?
There are dozens of winter outdoor recreation activities, from birding to geocaching to snowshoeing to wandering through the snowy woods, at Colorado’s 42 state parks. And you can stay overnight in a heated cabin or yurt to break those winter blues while renewing your love of the outdoors. View the stars and cross-country ski from the front door.
The camper cabins at Colorado state parks offer a variety of accommodations, and all the cabins have wood-burning, propane or electric heat.
Make a cabin or yurt reservation today!
Some of the cabins have kitchens, others have outdoor grills. For most of the cabins, bring warm sleeping bags, pillows and blankets. Some of the cabins have electricity, and a majority of cabins and yurts sleep up to six.
Bring the whole family and share the winter outdoor fun with your next generation by staying at Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Harmsen Ranch Guest House. The guest house, which sleeps up to eight, has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and gas fireplaces. Need more room? There are also two electrical RV sites included with the guest house reservation.
Reservations for the weekends fill up fast, so consider taking a mid-week break to enjoy a day or two of gliding on cross country skis, ice skating, ice fishing and just hanging out in the outdoors. Escape the noise and traffic in the snowy solitude of a state park. Don’t forget your camera, as there are many wildlife viewing opportunities, from deer to moose to white weasels.
